My Story

The Rachel Waters Remembrance Fund for Wales Air Ambulance has been set up by Rachel’s parents Paul & Kim, brother Tom & boyfriend Gavin following the tragic loss of Rachel in a car accident in February 2009. Rachel was a beautiful, caring, vibrant and compassionate lady and we aim to carry out our fundraising events  with those qualities in mind.  Rachel’s spirit will motivate us in all we do to raise money for Wales Air Ambulance.

Sat 9 May Paul presented our first donation of £3000 to The Wales Air Ambulance at Fairwood, Swansea.

Sat 23 Maythe residents of Bank Farm Caravans at Horton completed  a charity walk around Gower.  Full details of all sponsorship donations will be know later in Summer.  Also £190 was raised in the bucket collection during the walk.

Mon 25 May The Village Inn Killay held a boules competition and raised £86 from a bucket collection.  Winning team ‘2 Hats’ donated their £25 prize money and this along with other monies raised will be presented to WAA shortly.

Thurs 18 June At Fairwood Ken & Christine Jenkins, from the village Inn, Killay, assissted by Holly Jones presented £764 to Wales air ambulance in support of our fund.  This was raised by staff and customers in the annual boules competition which was sponsored by Exall & Jones.

Sat 20 June ‘Rachie’s Night’ – a fund raising evening and concert at St Helens Rugby Club, Swansea.

Sun 26 July Paul & Kim presented WAA with a staggering £4770 raised at ‘Rachie’s Night’ at St Helens on 20 June. Over £2000 was raised at an auction of donated prizes.  Many thanks to everyone who supported this especially those artists who took part and made the evening so memorable.  Good luck to the Girls on holiday in  Portugal with their winning bid for the apartment!!!!  See our new photo.

Also on the day Steve Postelthwaite presented £500 on behalf of himself and Dave Spencer for money raied on their Rhossilli to Mumbles run.

We have had a busy summer and thanks to fantastic efforts we have already exceeded our £20000 target.  Listed below are the latest achievements.  Paul, Kim, Tom & Gavin would like to thank everyone who has raised money, taken part in activities and supported them.  Thanks to Rob Seaward for running this site for them. We will be back in 2010 to start again .The Gower coastal walk by Bank Farm residents and friends raised an astonishing £6330.  Thanks to John, Gaynor & Amanda Scott and the committee & supporters for this fantastic contribution.

On 1 & 2 August Jenny Glynn & Fiona Evans took part in the London Triathlon.  They raised £1862.  This was matched by Old Mutual Bank Trust resulting in total donation of £3724.

During the summer at the Horton Farm bri a brac shop Linda Delve and her helpers raised £1000.

Jane Richards and Silvia Killa raised £740 at a Garden Party.

On 30 August Loughor RFC and Gorseinon RFC took part in the inaugral ‘Rachel Waters Memorial Cup’.  £120 was raised in a bucket collection.

Angela Lodge took part in the Swansea 10k on 27 September and raised £434
